You have your product or service and you know that there's a hungry market for what you have to offer.
Your set...right?
Well ...ummmm....no... the work has just started. Your marketing techniques and the marketing channels you access are one of the most important factors to your success.
I've observed that a lot of businesses really don't explore all the marketing techniques that they could have available to them. Placing media in different channels can really make the difference in successfully growing a business.
"If it aint broke....don't fix it!", that's a common thread in the minds of companies that limit their marketing techniques. Hey, there's nothing wrong with doing what works...but...limiting your marketing techniques will eventually limit your success. What if your particular way of marketing stops working? Are you prepared to alter your plan?
It's just in your best interest to always be extending your marketing techniques into different avenues. Getting the word out about your product or service into different areas of your market can ensure your continued success.
But with that said...decide on marketing technique and then do your research. Find out who's having success with them and get the details on how they are doing it. Don't haphazardly throw you money away before you know what you are doing.
An example of this is using marketing techniques such as radio and television. You would probably never consider this form of marketing. But until you get the facts...do the research and really learn from those that do it...don't discount it.
I'm not saying that everything will go perfectly..but...having the correct know how will give you the best chance of making you a profit, versus a big fat loss.
Also, it's important to know that not all marketing techniques are going to work for every business. But don't count out any one marketing technique until you check it out thoroughly.
So, here's some marketing techniques that you can use to grow your business. Understand that there are so many marketing techniques out there, these are just some I could come up with.
* Having a website...Presenting webinars...marketing using email...pay per click advertising...radio spots...television advertising...recorded messages...
*Newsletters in print...online ezines...affiliate programs...thank you cards...testimonials...business cards...Signs...Direct mail postcards...grabber mail...physical books...electronic books...Presenting seminars...giving presentations in public...
*Advertising in Yellow pages...Magazine and newspaper advertising...mailing your offer using Valpak...offline and online press releases...article marketing both online and offline...
*Interviews on radio...Interviews on television...voice broadcasts...telemarketing...blogs...SEO...800 messages...trade shows etc. etc.
This list is just a brainstorm, I'm sure you can add a whole bunch of other marketing techniques that I never even thought about.
But really my point is to NOT dismiss marketing techniques because they might seem outdated, out of the budget, or just too difficult to implement.
Always try to expand in your marketing techniques. Get the right information from those who already successfully utilize the marketing strategy and learn how to do it yourself.
When I think of using marketing techniques in my business the show " The Deadliest Catch" comes to mind.
Fishing for crab is difficult, but regardless of the difficulty... the job must be done if they are going to put food on their tables and pay the bills.
The captain just doesn't go to one spot and spend the whole time catching the crab. He goes to many spots and releases the pods(the cages that trap the crab)in many different areas.
It becomes a numbers game to a certain point. The captain just doesn't go to one spot to get his crab. He moves all over, some places doing average and some places are excellent. He knows that he will eventually get his crab if he keeps looking and trying.
And so you can look at your marketing techniques and the ability to use them similar to the crab fisherman. If you keep expanding, looking for more areas to place your pods(media placement) you will have the best chance of maximizing your profits and ensuring long-term success. If you have lots of places to market...you don't have to worry if one channel stops working, you have other channels that continue to grow your business.
So to conclude, be open to the many possible marketing techniques out there and don't shy away from learning and implementing them. Even the ones you just don't think would work or are out of the budget. Because, with the right information and the correct implementation of the marketing techniques, you could hit a goldmine of target customers you never thought was possible.
